A creative pause does not have to become another thing to achieve. It can be as simple as opening a notebook and noticing the colour of the light in the room.

Begin with what is already here. Choose a pencil, a scrap of paper or a few colours. Give yourself a small amount of time, with no plan for how the page should look.

Try this invitation: draw a line that matches the pace of your day. Then draw a second line for the pace you would like to move at. There is no need to explain either one.

If words feel more natural, finish the sentence “Today, I am making room for…” You can keep what you write private. The value is in the moment you give yourself, not in sharing a finished piece.

Let that be enough for today. A pause can stay a pause.

Carry a little inspiration with you.
